I was listening to The Best of the Week, Howard Stern on satellite this morning to work and it had recapped a few things about Artie Langs book Too fat To Fish. The publisher I think Random House had requested that Artie write a single page more for the paper back version about to be available. (the hardcover has been out for several weeks now).

It got me thinking though, if this guy can write a book, I can too damnit! But it also had me questioning about celebrities and well known figures such as Artie Lang and their abilities had actually writing a cohesive book. Do you really think that guy, Artie Lang actually sat down and wrote page by page a full length piece of non-fiction, or do you think most celebrities simply share and elaborate a few key stories in their life and a ghost writer puts it together?

In his grasp with booze, cocaine, heroine, weed and over eating addictions I cannot see that man, Artie Lang writing a book. I just cant. I've tried it and quickly realized that I lack the discipline to do so.

Nope, me neither.

I too haven't heard of Artie Lang, but it amazes me that these so called celebtities are able to write anything. What really gets me is that someone in their 20's or 30's can have a book entitled "My Life" or whatever, when they haven't actually had much of a life. Maybe when they get to their 60's or 70's they can. The other question is, who buys these crap books anyway?

I'll say the same to you as I do to my Mrs every day.

Just because you know something it does not mean that we do.

This bloke whoever he is, does not do anything in the UK, so we have never heard of him.

Never heard of him either, however the interent suggests he's not smart enough to write a book.

Wikipedia says "Lange was arrested for attempted bank robbery. He claimed he was only trying to flirt with the teller by passing her a fake holdup note that said he was armed and demanding $50,000. However, the teller took it seriously and triggered a silent alarm. Lange had signed his name on the note. When he learned that the police were searching for him, he turned himself in."

Exaclty!! Your comments are accurate, he is a cock tard and he is someone who know one would expect to write a book.

Im telling you, I really want to know if this guy actually wrote his book or told stories and recounted incidences and had a ghost writer put it all together. If this man did actually write a book then I will begin my own book right away for the sake of all that is good damnit!

Artie Lang is Howard STerns sidekick. I forgot about the whole UK thing hehe

Lotus...I sadly know who Artie Lang is. I bought "Beer League" on DVD for $1 and I have to say its really funny in parts. But as for Mr. Lang writing a book? No.

Most celebs sit down with a ghost writer who asks a few key questions and then extracts and extrapolates any stories out of them. Writes a draft, celeb reads over with a few rose tinted glasses (make themselves appear, smarter, funnier etc.) and the writer blasts out a final draft and continues their self loathing for selling out and wondering why no one took up their exquisitely written book about upper middle class, melo dramatic twits from the 13th Century affecting the global economy today...

This topic reminds me of a quote by Sir Terry Pratchett made after he was told Naomi Campbell had "written" a book...

Sir Terry said:
I think I would like to go into modelling. Of course, I don't know how to do it, and wouldn't be any good at it if I did, so I'm going to employ someone to walk the catwalks on my behalf. It would still be me, of course...
hehe
