Anybody got a tape measure handy??

Thanks, that's what mine is at the back, but more like 14 and a half at the front. I had new front springs fitted in January, and then after a while it looked low at the front, the garage measured it and was 14" from the centre of the wheel to the arch. They replaced the springs FOC, and all looked ok.
Drove along a snowy road yesterday, and the car was like a snow plough - the front undertray got so packed full of snow that it broke off at the back.
Took it back to the garage today and they measured it as 15" vs. my 14.5", but they're saying it 'looks ok', whereas I think the spring steel is losing its spring...

That was what I asked before they fitted the current front pair (the originals broke within 2 weeks of each other, due to the cold weather apparently)...although it was level on both sides, they later found out that they'd been sent one petrol and one diesel spring. Before fitting the current pair, they compared new against the old mixed up pair, and new were longer than both that were removed. So if the new diesel springs were longer than the 'old' diesel spring, me thinks it's definitely a shrinkage issue.

Broke due to cold weather?! Please...........
Rapid Fit told me Mondeo springs are prone to breaking after 90,000 miles and that the cold weather won't have helped. On the first, the top half coil snapped clean off. The other side broke two weeks later. Parked up in an airport parking space, no problem. Got back a week later, reversed out of the parking space and the spring broke straight away. Would you believe my luck!Gassing Station | Ford | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
