Just got back from VX. Had a good look around a Heron White VXR8. Beautiful car. Rich was right about the space and layout. I thought it was really really good. Even imagined owning one, until i started it. It didn't even sound like a V8. I don't know if that's just standard R8 thing but our Monaro sounds soooooo much nicer. I was quite disappointed. go easy on me

I've been reading this forum for about a year now so I've picked up loads of info on monaros and what you can do to them.Until two weeks ago I hadn't even seen one in the flesh but our local dealer had a '56 6.0 VXR with 1600 miles on it so I went down and had a look.As soon as he started it up I had to have one,the exhaust note was the icing on the cake and driving it was fantastic. While I was there they offered me their R8 demo but I wasn,t interested,I wanted the 'ro.It was my wife who talked me into trying the R8 and, for once I'm glad I listened to her. After about a mile in the R8 I bought it and I've had it just one week today and I haven't stopped smiling. If I hadn't driven the R8 I think I would have been just as happy with the 'ro and the monaro does have a much better sounding exhaust.Even with the window down I can't really hear mine until I'm above 3500 revs, but the sound is one drawback on an otherwise exceptional car.Other R8 owners may agree with me but I'm sure a lot of monaro owners wont.Hope I haven't upset anyone.

While the Monaro was in for service last year i test drove a VXR8 and your right its a wonderful car. I could feel how much sharper everything was as compared to the Monaro. It also would have been far more practical with the four doors and huge boot space. It is a very personal thing and they are both gorgeous cars, but i just love the Monaro so much. Its in my blood now and i'm smittencloud9
Col would have an R8 tomorrow but only as well as the Ro, never as a replacement.
My OP was just an observation of the exhaust note. I was surprised. On the other hand i met a few guys at the midlands meet vxr8mark being one of them. He had the switchable system and it sounded awesomeyes
Each to there own i guess. If we all loved the Ro we'd be in the poo as there arn't that many to go around

Is it a straight choice between the wortec or walkinshaw system or are there any others?
