Which way round do the numbers run? is it higher the number the harder the compound or the opposite way round?
Reason I ask the garage commented that the bridgestones were 150 odd and the Nexens 300 ish numbers (approx)meaning the nexens should last a lot longer (probably!)

So in short the higher the number the better the wear rate.
Good to know, but I assume softer tyres (lower treadwear number) grip better so best to see if we can get a cheaper tyre with the same rating as a premium tyre?

Except it appears that the treadwear indicator numbers are not consistant between manufacturers, just approximate guide within the SAME manufacturer :-S
