WARNING T350 owners in Essex

Just a heads up.
Last night my house was broken into for the keys to my T350 while the wife, our 3 week old baby and I slept upstairs.
They pushed it off the driveway but couldn’t start it further down the road and legged it when approached by 4 people on their way home from a club.
3 white males between 19 & 22 years old all wearing hoods, driving a light blue/silver BMW 3 series E36.

Really sorry to hear that but at least you and your family are OK.
Where abouts in Essex was this?
I have to say though it is very unusual and would almost certainly have been for joyriding, TVRs are rarely stolen due to the fact they are so rare and easy to spot. Hope they catch the scum that did it - have the police ben helpful?

We are in the Southend area.
Police were excellent. In fact when my wife was still on the phone to them the first car arrived.
My first thoughts were joy riders, the police however are not convinced due to the professionalism of entry and the only thing missing were the keys, despite being sellable electrical items in easy reach.

Say no more. For all you folk that does not know Essex to well. Southend is commonly known throughout Essex as the deliverance country.Edited to say, Basildon runs a very close second.

Did you hear anything back from the Police on the A4? I bet not!!! If I caught someone trying to steal mine, well let’s say, I would not hesitate to put then down the scum bags, with any means to hand. But then I suppose in these times of softness by the courts I would be the one in the dock!!! The courts are too busy banning my mate at work for 28 days for speeding on a clear day at 96mph on the A14. The old stuck up fart that passed judgement was most pleased with him self. Anyway rant over… give my regards to Julie

Regards passed on and replacement A4 found. We cannot have a dog as not around enough though the police suggested 'beware of the dog'signs. To be fair the police were very good and we have taken all of their advice (plus some other stuff to satisfy my craving to see the cxxxts hung by their bxxxxcks)

Really sorry to hear all this. I don't think this is just joy riding. Our home, also in Essex, was broken into just before Christmas. Among contents stolen, after finding the keys, they attempted to take my T350T from the garage. What was odd was that the roof panels were in another part of the house and they took the time to re fit them. As it happened, they couldn't get it started and left, leaving the keys in the ignition. I thought they didn't know what they were nicking (there are only 400 or so T350s, 80 odd Ts aren't there?) but maybe that's not the case. Broad daylight, house was only unoccupied for an hour and a half, neighbours were in both sides.
If anyone thinks the police ought to be trying to link any of these, PM me. Otherwise, I'm not posting exactly where in Essex I'm based on the remote chance these forums are involved. I'm close to APY, DickieandJulie describe themselves as Kent which isn't so far away...

This sounds quite worrying then - especially the example above where they went out their way to get the targa panels. I'd have thought in the UK there'd be no market at all, especially as it's such a rare car - even breaking for parts would be difficult.
Is there now a market for these in Eastern Europe? Hence being stolen (or at least attempted) to order?
Sounds like the thieves have also done their homework in order to know how to get in, fit the panels and even get out the cars. Just fortunate starting up isn't always as simple as just turning the key!

No, no witnesses. The indoor cover was carefully removed, the targa panels fitted reasonably well and key was in ignition. They had also established how to work the electric garage door in preparation for getaway. They also had a good go with the brand new car next to it in the garage. Again no damage. That has keyless go that they failed to figure out though they removed some blanking plates on the steering column looking for the override. My brother's luxury car wasn't on the driveway at time but they took the keys anyway.
No damage to either car but they left with £5000 of home content. Worst of all was all my Mum's jewelry, including her engagement ring - just one month after her death. Needless to say, I'm some way from forgiveness; these weren't paupers stealing to eat. The police said we were the only house in the street that didn't have a car on the driveway at 10am. They also said we were asking for trouble keeping valuable cars under covers [my T350 is worth less than the new rep mobile parked next to it!] and that we must have been keeping the garage door up so that all could see. Not true either of course - door goes up, car comes out door goes down. Always has. The T350 was covered in prints though goodness knows how many were ours. Really hope nobody else has to go through this.

He used to like going in my T350 - althought he prefered my convertible TVR's .. it's a fresh air thing.
After a spate of TVR's being stolen with the owners keys - I've done the following..
Taken the TVR to bits .. I call it a project
But seriously - I double lock the front door at night - this activates the dead bolts in the door.. without this thieves can literally push open most doors ..
Keys are not kept near the door .. they love to use a fishing rod thru the letter box to get keys too.
