without living there?

As i dont have a sponsor i was going to do the PEP (Personalised Employment Pass) and then look.

I was told this buy a recruiter to aid me:

In regards to the Visa, it is generally an easy process. I would suggest the best Visa for you would be the Personalised Employment Pass. This visa allows you to head out to Singapore without a role prior & without needing sponsorship. I have listed the link to the visa details below

http://www.mom.gov.sg/publish/momportal/en/communi...

I have then told her:

I have looked at the sites in question but they suggest that i still need to be there personally to get a PEP and have residence over there as the only way as a foreign person as stated below:

Submit the completed form and make administrative fee payment at any SingPost office

The application outcome will be mailed to the applicant's residential address in Singapore about five weeks from the date of application. (This excludes another two working days for postage.)

Is there any way for me to apply for the a PEP/Work permit without already being there and running the risk of not being approved and being stuck in singapore with a place that I would have to rent without the knowledge of knowing if I can get a job?

She has ummmed and erred and has now palmed it off onto someone else......

Does anyone on here know if its possible to get a PEP or a work permit whilst being a resident in the UK so the I can apply for jobs and be and not get knocked back by companies not wanting to do the sponsorship route?

Cheers

I hardly expect to find a Singaporean visa expert on PH, but XJSJohn lives there so you might be able to glean some info from him.

Browsing websites, or visiting the Singaporean embassy nearest wherever you are, would probably be your best bet. Gather information until the rumours and hearsay gel into facts, which is the way it is always done in Asia. biggrin

I had a work permit there in the early 90's, interesting place to live.

I know someone who came out here off his own bat, but that was to set up a limited company... My EP was approved in advance and was ready to collect from the MOM upon my arrival, but then I had a sponsoring co to organise...

I'll ask tomorrow if anyone knows the score...

It might also depend on your background, it seems to be easier to get approved if you've a particular skillset they are looking for?? Mail me if you need any more info. on Singapore in general.
