I have spoken to a guy in my local Lucas dealers today about sourcing some front indicators; bit of a long shot! They do not keep application books/guides so to identify them he needs the Lucas Number off one of the indicator lenses, he cannot identify them by the Unipart/Leyland No BAU 2249).

If anyone has a spare indicator or lense locked away could they have a look for any markings or numbers molded into them and let me know. The Lucas man says that the number he needs will begin with an 'L'.

As I said; its a bit of a long shot, but one worth persuing.

Many Thanks in advance........Pete

Have a read of this

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

I gave all the info I had to Adrian Venn and he went to see the manufacturer but I believe the moulds could not be found.

Edited to add pic of lense info below, thats all the numbers there are.

Yes I remember that Adrian, not much you can say really is there.
As long as we are not being insensitive trying to pursue this then it might be worth a go.
The only trouble is if the moulds turn up my retirement fund will then be worthless!

Chris and Adrian
Thanks for your replies. I did say that it was a bit of a long shot, the Lucas guy was most helpful though.

I agree with Chris, as long as it's not being insensitive.

I too bought a pair as an investment (in case I ever sell the car?) but have not fitted then as I am still happy with the result of grinding off the cracked and broken flanges from the pair I already had fitted... seems like most damage appears to be to the flanges but the main lens area and the rear reflectors are usually still serviceable, so Pete if you dont want to go the Kia route ( I cant bring myself to add Kia to the list of donors to my car) and you dont fancy the Ford or BMW E30 (not "M") alternatives, dont overlook the cheapest option you have...

good luck with your search

The problem I have is that I don't have the original ones fitted. Someone before me had replaced the indicators with BMW E30 smoked ones. I have now replaced these with BMW E30 Orange ones, as I did'nt like the smoked ones. However, my aim is to try to get the car back to a more original condition, and I much prefer the original indicators anyway.

I will just have to keep trying to find some.

Many Thanks............Pete

well if you need another pair to secure that big insurance job Adrian you know who to contact wink
The rubber trim on mine does protrude you are correct but I rounded the edge and its not too bad. I had thought of making an edge trim to pull the rubber in which screwed/clipped to the bodywork, but didnt feel the need in the end.

and Pete, I see your dilemma now... so good luck with your search, maybe you could ask if anyone has any of the damaged lenses that have been replaced lying around ?

Adrian@ said:
The problem IMHO is that TVR used the indicator lens to compress the leading edge of the rubber bumper and if you turn the screw even half a turn too much it breaks the edge of the lens...neither of the replacements address covering the edge of the bumper.
Adrian@
Adrian,

If you use the Maverick/Teranno ones with their own backing profile then they cover the end of the trim so you can't see the profile as they sit about 2mm behind the front edge and almost flush to the edge (about 1-2mm gap). They don't hold the trim in place though so it needs to be secure (mine is so it works well).
