Have a look at the pics in photo bucket and can anyone tell me what the complete motor is. It's got everything gen 4 on it but no vvt as per the confirmed gen 5 long block by the viper

What are those casting numbers on the rear of the Block above the flywheel?

To be honest as its a development block unless you know what development was being done on it then you will never know what it really is without dismantling it with reference to the final production engine/design. None of us in here are going to be able to tell you what dodge was doing with that block.

It could be anything from a GenIII with one or two Gen IV parts on it to a final pre production unit that they were just trying in a truck for some reason. This i would assume is why they are normally crushed and i am very skeptical that it was really intended to be sold to the public.

I know this sounds a bit disparaging but you are unlikely to get the answers you want in this forum as none of us have been able to get intimate with a gen IV yet. you may do better to head over to the VCA forum and ask some questions in there, but be warned there are some pretty high up people in SRT and Dodge that frequent that board so while you may get your answer they may also come a knocking asking for their engine back.

Guys,

Thanks for your help. Just spoke to Chuck Tator and he has confirmed that by the looks of things it's a gen 3 with gen 4 heads. That works out even better than a complete gen 4 for me as I can run the motor on a gen 3 ecu with a remap curtiousy of DC performance.

Thanks for your help

Jeff
