So, having enjoyed Brakespear Triple, McEwan's Champion and Owd Rodger, I decided to brave the "bum beer" part of the beer aisle and the disapproving looks of other shoppers, and grabbed a 4-pack of Whitbread Gold Label - "The No1 Barley Wine". I chilled it, poured it into a cold glass, and once the head settled, tucked in. Certain, it's a bit more one dimensional than the other beers I mentioned, but it's rich and tasty nonetheless. I fancy trying a some other nips. Can anyone recommend other barley wines, and if so, where stocks them?
maybe not the strongest of Barley Wines, but this is brewed locally to me and just recently won the top gong at the Winter Beers Festival,
