On my amazingly cheap 24" monitor I get loads of white, and reds are quite well saturated.

Thats great for normal everyday stuff but I need to process photos on it, and it's fairly new so I dont want to replace it

When I'm setting up white balances they're fine on the monitor, but as soon as I switch to a laptop, they've got a slight grey tint. That appears on other monitors as well, so it's the 24 thats out

How do I calibrate it to display correctly?

Sounds like it's too bright, so you're making your photos too dark to compensate. I use Adobe Gamma but the final adjustment was trial and error until my prints came out looking right. Just crank the brightness down a bit smile

I'm losing something in the midtones rather than straight brightness/contrast I think

I just downloaded Monitor Control Wizard which seems to put things back to how they should be, thanks for the tip
