my words to my missus yesterday. Cany believe how much they are costing this year. cheapest we have found ( thomas cook etc) has come in at over £3k!! of course we have the pleasure of paying more because i dont like taking the kids out of school, hotels dont seem to beable to manage rooms that fit more than 2 adults and 2 kids in (i have 3 kids), and dont get me started on the flight costs. My only requirement is fully inclusive so does anybody any know of any good companies other than the main ones or is 3k about right nowadays, havent been for 2 years so might just me being tight!! cheers guys and gals

3k for 2adults and 3 kids doesn't sound too bad.

Where are you planning on going?

I have to say that £3k doesn't sound bad at all.

£750x2 for the adults
£500x3 for the children

Presumably at these prices it is for a week and I would think you could probably do a bit better but not much. For an all inclusive it doesn't sound like a lot.

Or hire a cottage somewhere? Probably under a grand all in - even in peak season.

I know - we have three kids too and don't want to take them out of school for holidays. We're lucky that my parents have an apartment in Mallorca so we sometimes go there but I did look around for something different this year, but changed my mind when I saw the costs for a family of five !

Camping in the UK is fun with kids, we try to do four or five camping weekends with them over the summer.

Good luck !

We went last year to a very nice all inclusive in the Greek Islands and we are a family of five. If we had gone during term time it would have been £2500 but we went in August and it was £5000furious

Mrs took the money off the mortgage as she had a wee bonus coming by Xmas to pay it back but suddenly all this st happened, so we are still paying for it, albeit at 1.5%.

Might look into hiring a motorhome this year and parking at at the local common.

I've also been looking and prices do seem rather high at the moment.

We are holidaying in the UK this year, starting with an absolutely beautiful barn conversion in Somerset for a week at Easter - £380 for seven days.

There are loads of great places to go in the UK, and frankly I'd rather spend the money here than abroad at the moment. Besides, I doubt if we have seen the last foreign tour operator/airline go bust...

That actually sounds not too bad. I have no idea what the place you are going to is like, but £3K for 5 people all inclusive.......Not bad at all.

Put it this way, my wife and I are budgeting over £10K for a holiday this year. Alright we're going a bit mental (Missed our honeymoon thanks to me getting cancer, so we're making up for it), but it's easily done.

Make sure you have good travel insurance (in case the airline/hotel go bust), and do it all yourself:
