1.8T vRS Into MK2 Golf...
Discussion
I don't think this is the best place to ask but here goes!
A bit of advice needed if possible. I've been after a 1.8T 20v lump to slide into my '91 16V Mk2 Golf for a while. I've just offered a complete 180bhp Octavia vRS lump for a very reasonable price. It's complete with turbo, manifold, ECU, ignition, intercooler and gearbox, pretty much everything I want really as the car has had a rear end shunt.
So, could I use the vRS 'box in my Mk2, would it fit? If not which VAG 'box should I be looking at? What about the drive shafts?
Would I be able to use the original vRS ECU or would I need one of the QPEng kits? Ideally I would like to use the vRS ECU as the QPEng kits seem rather expensive and I have access to a cracking auto electrician who would tackle the wiring.
If I got the complete engine what else would I need? I presume I'd need a intercooler, uprated engine and gearbox mounts, radiator, slim line fans etc?
Would you recommend strengthening the engine bay? Seam welding?
Sorry for all the questions but advice would be much appreciated, I need to dust these bloody diesels!
Cheers!
