Hi

I'm after a Fiat 500 and was wondering what they are like to live with day to day. I'm currently dont have a car, so after something easy to use after not driving for a bit. I'll mainly be using it for getting to work, which is only about 20 mins away, and the odd trip down the m62 to the parents.

Thanks smile

We should be off for a test drive in one soon over here.

Plus me coming over to Manchester would be dangerous as I really like the Arbath 500, and could easily be tempted hehe

I've had a 1.4pop for about a year. Great little car. Ride is a bit bouncy if the road is bumpy, and the 1.4 is a bit gruff, but its full of character and fun to drive. Not done many long runs in it, but its pretty comfortable.

Obviously with only 100hp its pretty slow, but not bad mpg sort of makes up for it a bit.

Nothing gone wrong in 12 months, and its really well made, so I'd recommend you take a look!

We've had our 1.4 Lounge for a year and 14,000 miles. Been great fun and a very good car for all our various journeys. London commuter car is it's day-to-day job. 30 miles from SW to North London. Does a regular London to Derbyshire and back day trip (320 miles). Have driven to Scotland too.

It replaced a Mk5 Golf GTi and although not as fast or as big, we do the same journeys with ease.

Blue and me system is mostly good - sometimes I struggle (ie fail) to connect my HTC phone which is annoying on a long journey. Our Ipods connect faultlessly too.

Close to 40 mpg too on average. 30+ quite easily.

We're considering a 500 Abarth to replace the 1.4 in a few months time, but we have a GT3 when we want to go fast! (Even so, the Essesse we drove was a lot of fun and properly quick)

Do it!

We've got two and love 'em to bits! Great fun - see my profile for more details/running costs etc.

Don't bother. I bought my diesel a year ago from new. It's been nothing but trouble. The head gasket has been replaced 3 times (yes 3 times). Its latest quirk is that it drives along and thinks the brake pedal is being pressed at the same time as the accelerator and then loses power, starts shuddering etc.

It's been in the garage about 7 times altogether. It broke down and left me stranded and I had to be towed home by the AA.

Dealerships ain't that good either, especially customer service.

Cute but crap.

PS do you wanna buy mine...... One careful lady owner.

Also looking at getting one (well, the wife). It'll to be replace a 3year old Yaris and placing fashion over practicality!

Must say, the website does make it look good. We're off to see some at the weekend. Considering the 1.4 lounge with a big bunch of extras.

From someone who's had a Toyota for the last 3 years, that does sound shocking.

Yup.

Our 1.3 Multijet has done over 10k miles now with no problems.

Pikey, I had a Toyota Yaris and wish I'd never got rid of it. In fact I was at the local Toyota garage again this weekend looking for something to replace the 500! The 500's are gorgeous little cars, and maybe I'm just one of the very unlucky ones who's got a 'donkey'.

I drove one, I thought it looked great!

However the drive was not good, the car was amazingly slow for what seemed to be a light 100hp car, the car was louder at 60 than the r57 convertible mini with its roof down was(equipped with deflector). The seating position puts you over the peddles, and makes you feel like you are pushing down on them instead of pushing them in. I also found it uncomfortable on my back, and felt like I was in the clouds (6,1).

I would say this, but a used mini to the same value is a much better proposition. The only possible thing the 500 wins on is looks, value.
