Now on single lane B roads I can understand this, otherwise whats the point!?

Given all the road camera's have hardly dented the road death rate, I suspect this is part of the revenue generating exercise to pay for a few Lords and Knight's bank pensions.

It could be a massive cash generator...and while police are dealing with that...all other crimes will go through the roof.

today at 60 I am safe, tomorrow I am a child killer with 3 points, a fine and an increased insurance premium.

All the while I watched on Road Wars just how easy it is for a pikey traveller to nearly kill someone but get away with it.

Agreed regarding single lane rural roads. But how many here really believe that this is where they will be sited?
Im betting they will be sited on long clear stretches of road where 50 is pointless, not on the hairpin bends and the like. Also they mention they will be average speed camera's
I guess we will see, but going on prior form, its likely to be purely a revenue collection plan.

When I see st like this I really wonder why I came back to this Godforsaken country, which is run by a bunch of inept, corrupt, wasteful aholes.

This is nothing short of a ramp up blatent revenue raising to make up for the allmighty cock up made in allowing the financial industry to rape the country. furious

I don't know why they don't just ban cars and have done with it. After all us drivers are all bastards; always going too fast mowing people down, killing the planet with our emissions, ripping up the countryside for our roads and all we do in return is pay an obscene amount of tax. I just can't think why they let us carry on...

I agree completely, but Gareth if you hadn't come back to this Godforsaken country you wouldn't have met me. You just have to look on the bright side yes

For what it's worth someone has started a petition, I can't see it amounting to anything but its better than doing nothing and behaving like good little drones of the nanny state.

And to try and make sure they stay in power to nanny us some more, they are going to give the vote to 16 year olds. (Sunday Times yesterday).

Can you imagine Harry Enfields Kevin getting the vote? wkers.

Have they sneakily started this 50mph already? My daily work commute (A423 in Warwickshire) has been littered with 50mph signs today. These were all "national speed limit" signs when I drive to work this morning..

If they made it 49 then a standard CV8 could do it in 1st gear....

hehe

Can you imagine that? Foot to the floor, driving everywhere just bouncing off the rev limiter!!!

4 mpg would probably tempt me to change up though.......!
