Drive shaft

Went out for a drive on friday and managed to break the drive shaft on the drivers side of the car, anyone know a part number?, made a quick call to noble, apparently its just a ford part.

No idea, was driving it on friday to check it over before the knockhill trackday on sat then started getting an odd vibration through the car, thought it might be a wheelnut loose or something of that sort but then heard something metal ping off the car and after a quick coversation with a dealer had a look at the drive shaft, play in the centre joint about a foot from the gearbox end and play when trying to twist it, also get a clicking noise. jnm said they've only had it happen to one other car, I'm jinxed.

Ah so a CV joint then. There's been a few of them go. One chap got through 3, but he did seem to like 0-60 tests...

Part no. 1094821, go to the ford garage and look on their parts disc and you will find it, about 50 odd quid.

cheers guys, managed to get one from 'reids for speed' for £30 quid.

Hmm, unfortunatly it seems the outer half shaft is damaged so i replaced with a new one, its better but im still getting a vibration, noble recommend changing the shaft from the gearbox also so that should arrive tomorrow. The wheel bearing and hub seem fine, if its not this shaft has anyone got any other ideas?

The vibratings get worse the faster i go and the more load i put on the right hand side of the car.

I had a similar problem recently. The support bearing in the centre was also replaced and the problem solved. Hope this is of some help

I had a similar problem under load and cornering hard. It turned out to be one of the hub nuts had come loose. Changed to Porker nuts and tightened and all OK now.
