I was listening to David Bowie last night and by God I do believe I've sussed it, the reason why life these days just seems so disappointing.

When I was a kid something newer, bigger and faster seemed to happen every few weeks. We had Concord, the 747, man walking on the moon, Skylab, the Intercity 125 and the HST, the list is almost endless. It seemed like every time I saw the news mankind went on to something newer and even greater.

Life was just full of promise and to be honest we were pretty fking great, it really seemed as if there was no stopping us. Tomorrows World was on it's regular spot every Thursday and some of that stuff even came true, something about every home having it's own computer? rofl

But what have modern kids got to look forward to? Every time I turn on the news now it seems as if mankind is apologising for this glorious past and somehow fluffy kittens are more important than the emotional lift given by mankind going on to ever greater achievements...

Someone pass me a Raleigh Chopper, I need to go out and do some wheelies biggrin

How long would it take you to re-write your post using a John Bull printing set?

But it had huge potential... And you don't hear much about Skylab these days either.

That's not the point though, man's potential was unlimited when I was a kid, if we wanted to do something a few clever blokes were given some money and lo and behold, we had it invented and built.

CERN

stuff still gets done but the political agenda and green issues cover the news more than anything else IMO
