Are there only 116 good people here.....................
Discussion
in the pistonheads community ???...............Thats the amount of donations we have had in response to my Charity appeal. I know these are going on everywhere and that sometimes it seems that all people want all the time is money, money money. Times are hard and I understand that. What i cant understand however is with the thousands of members and the dozens each day why more donations to such a wonderfull cause is being ignored by the majority??
All who have donated i applaud you and thank you sincerely. For the many who have not yet given i appeal to you. Sometimes you have to be blunt and ask because if you dont ask, you dont get!! So im asking. Please give your support and donate as much or as little as you can. Rest assured none of us live forever. Many of us will need places like these to be there for us. Look deep into your hearts and remember the moto that so many that have donated have already said......" Pistonhead cares". We look after each other.................Thank you for reading.

I think this is a little out of order frankly. How do you know that the other people (inc myself) don't already donate to other charities?
Just because we have not donated to this specific cause does not make us bad people.
I really feel for your loss but didn't appreciate the wording of your post.

I'm sorry for your loss, but whether somebody donates to the charity closest to your heart or not, is no determination of their 'goodness'.
There are hundreds of just as worthwhile causes out there, and lots of people without your personal involvement will choose to support these instead.
I wish you luck with your appeal, but trying to guilt people into contributing is not the way ahead.

I resent the fact that you are suggesting I am not a "good person" just because I choose not to donate to your appeal.
Agree entirely.I suspect you may live to regret your post.
People like to make their own mind up which charities to support, (If indeed they choose to at all)
GUYS! GUYS! GUYS!
before posting, please take into account that Mitches loss was only a matter of weeks ago, wether he knows it or not he is grieving, the tone of this post feels like there might e an element of that in there, please dont be too hard.

That's pretty f
king low.
I appreciate that you're upset, but implying that people are bad by virtue of not having given you money is ridiculous, unwarranted and totally unjustifiable.
Do you think this will increase the number of donations, or half them? Do you think trying to lay a guilt trip on people is really a good way to tease open their pocketbooks?
I'd probably delete the initial post and have the mods shut this one down if I were you.

Ah the old headway meets.Headway
Goodluck with your appeal but please do not try to make me feel bad becasue I make a different choice.
I remember those days. As it weren't me who had to be there.
If ever you think your life couldn't get any worse, drop on in a meet and listen to stories from some of their members.

Doesn't really appeal to my kinder nature I'm afraid.
I give to charities I WANT to give to, not ones that try and guilt trip me.

I'm sorry, but that post was so self righteous, regardless of how recent his loss was. I have lost three immediate family members to cancer but I do not berate people for not donating to cancer research. And, I hasten to add, I think that 116 people from here alone is not a bad start...I'm with the rest on here. When my mum passed away due to the side effects of the cancer treatment we continued to raise money for MacMillan nurses, and only until I recently lost my job I gave a sum every month. Also if you are ever near Northwick Park Hospital, pop into the MacMillan ward where there is a room that we paid to be kitted out named after my mum.
So, does the fact that I've not given to your charity make me bad? I think not.
Times are hard for lots of people on here, and I'm sure if they could help they would. Or they choose to give something that is closer to their heart, maybe your original post inspired them to give a little more to their chosen charity.
As much as my heart goes out to you for your loss, the fact that 116 people have donated is fantastic. However, with the tone of this thread, I don't think it's going to go any higher.
Re-read your original post and reconsider your comments.

Probably a badly worded post.
I too donate to Marie Curie and Local Hospices - I'm afraid I can't afford any more at the moment.
However we (group of us) are planning a trip to Ben Nevis in June/July time and I am quite happy to split the donations between our local hospice and your charity if you're still interested then?
Best I can do right now I'm afraid.
