Problems selecting navigation in i-drive

Weird problem, but sometimes i-drive is fine and on other occasions it refuses to let me select navigation or anything that is a right click. Anyone else have this problem or suggestions as to whether it is a hardware or software issue given it is periodic. On a bad day I have to use voice control instead

Does it matter? Surely its under warranty, therefore nothing to concern yourself with, only dropping it back in to where you bought it?

It is under full BMW warranty; my only concern is minimising disruption to me, so if anyone has encountered this and had it fixed it may save me from a dealer blindly trying software upgrades, changing parts etc to try to isolate it which is where this is headed
