It is the most disgusting thing to see whilst walking down the road. I guess it is because the people that do it are stupid and either trying to make themselves look hard, or they are copying the football players because they think it looks cool either way they are disgusting.

I'm 100% convinced that this is due to footballers - if you ever see a game of thugball on TV take a look - they spit continually.

I've seen some kids who have taken the affectation to such a point that they're doing it every 30 feet or so as they walk. Stupid wkers.

I hate it too, but on a rare occasion when out running I spit to clear my airway ... Although I do make a concious effort to do it discreetly into a bush, am I classed as a dirty bd now

I was really ill this one time and hocked up this loogie, spat it out but it didn't travel as far as I'd intended it to. So there it sat on my window ledge all green with black bits in it. It was still there a few weeks later despite heavy rain.

Their "role models" seem to be like virtual fountains of saliva when kicking a ball around a field in this bloody ridiculous, overpaid and pointless "game".

i got to admit i do spit when I am cycling, but i need to clear my airway, i do it in a dignified manner (ie when no one is looking) Can't completely blame the footballers, they probably the same as me, they need to do it. They can't carry a tissue to spit into during football. (ps i hate football btw)

But in the normal scheme of things it isn't neccessary.
