After fitting a battery cut-off switch to my 1987 Xflow I noticed that the connections to the screen heater switch had come adrift. I thought that I had disloged them when fitting the switch, though the screen heater has never worked since I bought the car a year ago. I reconnected the switch and I now know why it was disconnected. It produced heat in the wrong place and a smell of an old valve radio being switched on after a long time. And whisps of smoke. Does anyone know the wiring colour codes for the 12v feed to the screen? Also I seem to remember someone saying there are two 12v feeds because there are two heating elements.

There should be a black (-ve) lead on the passenger side and a green/pink 12v (+ve) lead on the drivers side buried up under the dash in the loom somewhere.

There is only the one live feed to the screen.

The problem was the resistor on the battery cut-off switch which I wired incorrectly. It was heating up quite spectacularly. I blame the misleading diagram that came with the switch. Anyway the screens working ok now. Thanks for all the help
