Does anybody know a model car company like "minichamps" or "burago" , which is producing TVR model cars? Especially Tuscans or Cerberas? I´m a university student in germany, so i haven´t enough money for a real TVR. I´m looking for TVR model cars, but can´t find some.

SMTS - Scale Model Technical Services

They have models of the Cerbera, Griffith, and Chimaera, and probably others as well.

I bought my models at car shows like Goodwood. Even there, you have to go to a bunch of stalls before you can find someone who knows what you want. And yes, they're expensive.

Try www.smtsmodels.demon.co.uk/mainagent/mainagent.htm

Faisal.

From their website, it now looks like they make:
Speed 12
Tuscan (closed roof)
Tuscan (open roof)
Cerbera
Chimaera
Griffith
V8s

Has anyone out there built any of the SMTS models?, how easy/difficult are they to do - the last model I built was an Airfix Spitfire when I was about 14 !! Any advice welcome..

Mattel does the original Speed12 in 1/18th.

Some new scale models are in the pipeline..., e.g. a 1/10th Tuscan...

Although I havent built one, I have taken them apart and put them together (correctly) so I can assure you, it's easy. I just don't know if they come painted or not. Painting it could be difficult, since paint could pool in the cracks/details, and hide them. Other than that, it's easy. Leave the wipers off, they're messy!

Had a look at the SMTS models in a London shop, they're only about 2 inches long (not that length is everything, apparently).

I'm still looking for a Griff model or kit in 1:10, 1:12 or 1:18 rather than 1:43. Any ideas would be welcome!

I'm looking for a model of a 280i. Does anyone know where I can find it?
In Holland you can't find TVR models at all. In Belgium there are some models, but none of them are wedges.

How about the range sold through the TVRCC (miscellaneous pages)?

I found the 280i, but know I have another "problem". I have a convertible but I believe the model isn't....
I would like it when the model is also a conv.

Other than SMTS and Scalextric, don't know of anyone else who does TVR. If anyone does then you should be able to find them on one of the following 2 sites:

www.ewacars.com
www.mafma.com

You could also contact K&R replicas (www.kandrreplicas.co.uk) who do a lot of Brit sportscars (MG, TR, Jaguar etc) in 1:43 and 1:24 but to my knowledge haven't covered TVR yet.

I bought one of the die cast Cerbera's as advertised in Sprint, They seem pretty good, I haven't actually built it yet but the detail is there.
I think they are on the TRCC Web site?

I am guilty of being sad enought to build a SMTS model Chimaera. The kit comes unpainted for about £40 and is easy to build. I have copied my own Chimaera in minature and used some touch up paint to spray the model the same colour as my big car. Then Humbrol paints for the internal details. I even printed my registration numbers off on my PC and stuck them onto the miniature number plates. The result is very good and the detail surprsingly good. I would certainly recommend their kits.

Sadly I can't get the colour of mine in a spray can so I'll have to find an approximate match and hope they have it in Halfords. R...

Look in the catalogue section under 'classic british sports cars' and they're on the second or third page.

I wanted the S series but can't find it on the TVRCC website - anyone know if they have them?

Have you tried phoning Henley Heritage? They sell models. I just bought a Griffith from them. There were two options: bog-standard Griff (quite expensive) or paint-to-your-spec, with your numberplate on (expensive). Might be worth giving them a go for your Tuscan?
