Ladies and Gentlemen of the [-]Jury[-] Pistonheads

My passport expires soon and tonight i am going to get my new photo taken. My old photo taken when i was 17 shows some horrendous curtains-come student mop for hair.

At the moment as i am most likely going to the photo booth enroute to the pub means ill be sporting this mornings towel dried hair and a red tshirt that i have worn to work.

My question is. Would you dress up for your passport photo? Does it really matter?

I do have an old J Sainsbury's bow tie that only the coolest of employess wore back in 1996.

Would that be acceptable?

I was advised to go to somewhere like Jessops to get a proper photo taken.

The key requirements are the expression, grey background and the correct position of your head in the photo.

I know of a few people who have had theirs rejected and last year when these guys were on strike, a lot got rejected after.

Bureaucracy at its greatest.

Had mine taken in the local Snappy Snaps with the correct background and all that. I certainly didn't get dressed up for it.

Some of the ID cards from Eastern Bloc countries and elsewhere are relatively amusing, precisely because of the serious expressions and formal suits.

Comb your hair, wear a tidy T shirt, they are only looking at your face afterall, unless new passports sport a whole-body photo?

As long as you look like a terrorist/spy/subversive/criminal in the photo then it meets the requirements. Dont look like a happy, normal, contented citizen or you'll really get shafted....
