Hi, has anyone here fitted a tubi on a quattroporte? Is it worth doing and risking any corresponding breach of warranty headaches?
And I presume it will also increase insurance costs.

thanks, got a quote of 2200 quid to fit a tubi on the QP. Wondering whether it will be worth the money since the engine sounds pretty good as it is. Though it will probably save me money on fuel as I wont have to rev the engine as much to enjoy hearing it ;-)

Was that with Verdi? What happens if you don't like it (eg it produces a lot of resonance for instance)?

Seems very overpriced.

the 2200 quid included the cost of the tubi, if 2200 is too much how much should I expect to pay and where?
thanks

The Larini seems more popular on the QP, maybe get a quote on one of those as a comparison?

but isnt the tubi the only one that will potentially not affect the warranty?

I think it depends who you ask, my local FM dealer told me any exhaust change invalidates the warranty, however some EU law says that you can swap them if the part is equal to or better quality than the original. Have you contacted the suppliers of Tubi/Larini and got their view on the warranty situation?

I personally think the Tubi doesnt suit the character of the QP. Tubi is too loud for such a vehicle, i would be more inclined to go with Larini back boxes. These are meant to have less headache inducing drone.

You could even try just going for the Larini X pipe and keeping the stock back boxes, the standard one is very restrictive. The sport GT makes a lovely nouise compared to other QP's and the only difference is a less restrictive x pipe.

I thought about this but the howl at 3/4 revs is enough for me anyway.

Sorry to hijack your thread, but I have a 2008 Gran Turismo 4.2 and would also like to upgrade the exhaust. I guess the options for the QP and GT are similar?

Would fitting the crosspipe of the Gran Turismo 'S' offer a more sporty sound? I'm not looking for a very loud noise that becomes tiresome, i'd just like to hear a little more and get a deeper sound. Larini have been recommended to me over the Tubi for the GT, but i've not heard either.

i dont know if you can retro fit the "S" exhaust but having driven one it does sound quite extraordinary.

I have Larini, the exhaust is about £1250, and about 1 hours labour to fit.

I have a feeling that Tubi's are about £1500?? I wouldnt have thaught they would involve more labour to fit than a larini.

There is a guy on the maserati forum selling his old Tubi on ebay at the moment his cars a 4200, I am not sure if it is would fit a QP, but perhaps worth investigating.

My larini backbox's sound like god shouting in my ears.

I actually do have a sport GT, so maybe I wont see a particularly noticeable difference I fit a tubi. Has anyone heard both to advice?

Who sells the Larini X-pipe in the UK? Looking at it and diagrams of the Sport GT x-pipe, they both look pretty similar in appearance/shape.
