i recently bought a rsp mini, the problem is the driving lights are not connected up.He left me the wiring to do it but i cant work out which wire goes where.there are no switches in the car that are not used so does it share the rocker light switch? or do i put one in?.Thanks for your help in advance

There's no switch, they come on with the headlight mainbeam.
There should be a relay, on the inner right wing IIRC, that controls them.

Is the wiring in place or do you have to do this?
If there is no wiring, you can easily add a 3-position switch so that they either come on only with main beam and go off when you dip, are off all the time or are on without any other lights being on.
It's a simple circuit anyway and you just need a switch mounted on a panel on the dash, a decent quality relay, some crimp on connectors and some wire. An extra fuse is a good idea as well
Let me know if you need the circuit details and more instructions,

Peter

Mark,
If the wiring is in the boot, I would advise re-wiring with new cable, new connectors, relay and 3-position switch, then you will know it's been done properly.
If you look at the little panel which has the rear foglight switch, there may be a spare position for the spotlight switch there - there was on my Grandson's 1986 Mayfair when we added 2 spotlights.
If you email me your address I'll draw a circuit diagram and post it to you together with fitting instructions.

Hi Peter
when i said it was in the boot i meant it was a small wiring loom that had been removed from the engine bay and left in a bag in the boot. The loom i have starting from the lights is the two plugs in black and blue/yellow wires then comes a earth point with 2 black wires and blue/white wire which has been cut.the wiring then goes to a relay which has a black,purple,2 blue/yellow and one blue/white.I know the 2 blue/yellow wires go to the driving light plugs but the purple has been cut and so has the black what i need to know is where the purple and blue/white wire goes?.I asume the black from the relay is an earth.I hope this makes sense,if not i will e-mail you my adress and re-wire it.Thanks for all your help

I can't relate to all those wires and wire colours. It sounds like typical Rover engineering. I would just rewire it properly and then it'll be fine and you'll be able to have the lights on of off with the main beam on.
If you want the diagram and instructions just let me know.
