Latest was the s/v90, ended production in '98, I believe.

I agree, they're mainly FWD these days, although they do do plenty of 4WD models

as well as the 200 series, the 740,760 and 780 bertone's, 340 and 360's, 940 and 960's(later re-badged the S90/V90)

Pick of the bunch for me would be either a 740 Turbo Intercooler or an ultra rare 740 twin cam 16 valve - both pack decent punch and RWD

To be honest though the FWD 850 is more of a driver's car than any of the RWD volvo's

The RWD volvo's do make excellent drift and drag cars though

^^ yes ^^

In Sweden the RWD Volvo's are commonly called tractors, unfortunately there is a very good reason for that.
850 and the later models may not be as much of a drivers car as a BMW is, but there is a difference as prominent as night and day between the RWD and FWD Volvo's.

Thanks guys, i just prefer RWD but did always fancy a go in one of those 850`s like the touring car. So you reckon an 850 FWD is a far better car than any of the RWD`s.

If you don't inted to use it for drifting, I'd recommend you to get a 850 or later FWD Volvo, a very underestimated car IMHO.

Drive an 850 T5 and you'll come away wanting one

240 GLT's have a real cult appeal now though, I think they look awesome too - the first real "performance" Volvo - Had a bosch injected 2.3 litre engine with high lift cam profile - quite a mover in it's day - My mechanic used to work at Holden's in Norwich and when they first bought out the GLT (on an X-plate i think) the first 10 or so cars Holden's sold were written off within months of being sold as the average Volvo drivers weren't used to the performance! - the early cars are the ones to have - X and Y platers with the "silver top" engine - had a lumpier cam making them even quicker! Volvo changed the cam profile on the later cars as owners complained about the lumpy idle due to that high lift cam

I think it's about preference. For some reason I'd rather prefer the RWD. I just don't think it's in right place that some of todays SUV are FWD.
