been told the fuel pump is on the way out

where can I get a new one as bmw said £1000 to replace it.

Any one know how easy it is to swap??

I've got a receipt in my service history for both the pumps being changed by a specialist, cost over £700 to supply and fit. Is it the lift pump in the tank or the main injection pump on the engine?

There's an article in PPC or one of the similar mags this month about the 325tds. It mentions in there about the pump problem - I'll wander over to the shelf and see if it mentions a cheap fix in the article - can't recall one though

Had a look in there...said it had to be coded to the ECU? Don't know if that's true but it seems a bit of an expense if so
