Hi,

After long deliberation and reading various reviews (including PH forums) finally took the plunge and got a new 320i (A big change after having a 1.5 Smart ForFour)! Was considering 325 or 330, but then my insurance would be too prohibitive to take out...

The car drives great, very smooth and quite with enough grunt to have fun (although a bit bouncy on bad roads, but much better than what I'm used to). My main issue is MPG... I've read reviews from several people claiming 35+ in a 335 and I thought I would be getting at least 30 around town and 35 on the motorway it being only a 2 litre, but not so. I'm averaging 28 on motorways and 26 around town!

Now, I have to admit, I have a heavy right foot... (Discounting a couple of overtaking manoeuvres) I usually keep the old revs below the 2000 mark around town and below 3500 on motorways (doing 100 in 6th). Keeping that in mind, should I really be expecting 25-29 mpg or is something wrong with the car?

I dont normally care that much, but such a big difference in reviews between 30+ for a 3 litre engine and actual 28 with a 2 litre seems unwarranted... Could it be the engine still needs to be run in to improve efficiency (700 miles on the clock)? Or maybe there is a tyre pressure problem?

If any one could shed some light on the issue I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Well yeah... But how much should I expect and is it going to get better? I'm sure I'm not the only one here with a 3 series and a heavy right foot...

P.S. manual says I can take it up to 100 while running the engine in biggrin.
