The R8 is, as I understand it, a fairly low ranking model in the HSV range?

Which one(s) should be brought in and at what price points?
Fer instance, are there any genuine HSV M5 beaters?

I thought the main difference between GTS and Clubsport R8 was that the GTS had MRC (the magnetic ride control) and a few gimicky things. The engine output etc was (is) the same isnt it?

You'd need to go for the W427 to get a power boost over the R8, but the W427 is silly money.

Having looked at my AU "Motor" magazine, I believe the main HSV 'sedan' range goes;

Clubsport R8 - $64K
GTS - $77K
Senator Signature - $79K
Grange - $84K
W427 - $155K

I think the senator and grange have the same engine as R8/GTS, but are aimed a little more at luxury rather than sport looks with equipment such as bose stereo, nappa leather, electric seats, front park assist etc depending on the model.

Correct, W427 is also crap.
Look at the output its only 385rwhp. Heads and cam material for an LS1.

GTS and R8 use the same tune according to another tuner.

Just buy a vxr8 and mod it. Much more cost effective.
If you wan luxury the Calais model is the top of the range. Though I dont think it offers much or anything over the vxr8/gts/r8 trim.
