I've been going to Le Mans for 14 years, never camped (far too old!), always stayed in a hotel, or slept in the car in a car park on the Saturday night particularly. Usually I have booked via one of the well know motor racing tour companies. This is not cheap but it does get you a hotel near to Le Mans, and sometimes other services too at the circuit, and you get an early guarantee of what you are paying for, which gives peace of mind.
The chance of you getting a hotel anywhere near to Le Mans at this stage are remote. Most are booked up well over a year ahead, usually by the tour companies or fans who know they must book early and regularly use the same hotel each year.
This year I have joined the ACO and fixed everything by DIY. My son and I are travelling early Friday back Monday, and we're using Eurotunnel. We're staying at the Ibis Hotel at Falaise, maybe 80 miles north of Le Mans, on the Friday and Sunday nights, sleeping in the car in Parking Blanc on the Saturday night. We've ordered and paid ACO for two general admission tickets, two grandstand tickets, and a reserved space in Parking Blanc which is a very convenient place to be based. I have not received the tickets yet hence my earlier reference to peace of mind.
For my own interest I have done a cost comparison between using a well known tour company and what I've paid this year via DIY. For the two of us the tour company cost would be around £1400 and DIY, including the ACO joining fee, has worked out at around £750. None of these costs include petrol, food, beer etc (not sure if that is the right priority order!).

We've been using Speedchills.com for the last 4 years as they provide excellent facilities. This year we've gone for their "private camping" option which should be about as good as camping gets!

If you want a hotel then they are worth a call too as they take over a whole hotel somewhere near the circuit. I don't know much about it as we've always camped, but sure it'll be a good option if their camping is anything to go by.

This little hotel is just up the road from me. Very basic it doesn't even offer breakfast but is 1.5 miles from the Mulsanne. Drop them a line if interested. I know them well and block booked it last year for the Classic.
