The nice thing about the P&P is that ALL the crap threads with utter stupidity are in there. Which means when you fancy a bit of stupidity either for a good holier-than-thou snigger or even to indulge in a bit of it yourself you know where to go.

I think if people start threads in the P&P they know what they're going to get: dumb answers, bad jokes, forum cliches - just the sort of fun you fancy of a lunchtime. Someone will say something hilarious either through being really, phenomenally dumb or through being really rather clever - either way you get some amusement.

Now the sub-forums contain threads mostly about their subject. Sometimes with humour but, thankfully, for the very most part - WITHOUT the bks that is the P&P.

This division means when you go to the P&P or to the Chimaera or the Photography or the Food and Drink forum you know what you are going to get.

When threads that ALREADY have crap on them get moved to the sub-fora the denizens look it over, write it off as a piece of utter poo, and ignore it.

THAT'S why moved threads die off IMHO.

So. Dear mods/forum managers. When considering moving a thread from the P&P: As well as looking at it's premise also look to see what content it has so far. If it's already got MX5, OXO Tower, Nuke From Orbit, IBTL and a couple of images obtained from Google I suggest leaving it where it is - or just pressing the Destruct Button. When it gets to the sub-fora no-one will bother with it anyway...

Only my opinion but perhaps worthy of thought?

Couldn't agree more.

In the main though mate, does this not happen already?

I think so. yes

There have been a couple of examples recently where this was not the case. For example the "Cooking is Tedious" thread that made it to Food and Drink. It would have been far funnier in the P&P where ludicrous ideas for labour saving gadgets might have been discussed instead of a few comments about "Err. No it isn't." A couple of picture threads got moved to Photography - when they weren't actually about Photography more about T&A or Google searching.

I'm not saying the decisions are all wrong - far from it - I'm just raising the point. I hope the mods will discuss it in their special mod forum and come to a slightly more defined concensus about when to press the Move button when the source is the P&P - that's all. No great criticism meant or implied.

Contrary to popular opinion the mods do look at threads before moving them.

Quite often they will get moved if the mods think that the OP was looking for genuine answers or if they think that a thread will go off the rails and end up locked or deleted.

We will bear in mind the effect that the stupid comments have on the sub-forums though, and consider deleting those comments before moving the thread in future.

I'm sure they do, Will. No criticism. Just raising a point for consideration.
