Hi folks,
was driving yesterday night to Swindon (from London) and noticed that when stepping fully on the accelerator that the engine would not rev up and deliver power but rather just slowly accelerate and make a "drrrrrr" noise as if one cylinder wasn't firing or not getting enough fuel, etc. Would usually go away after a few seconds and then rev up. Didn't seem to be happening in a particular rev range but had the feeling it was worse when the engine was hot. any clue what it might be? Spark plugs? Distributor cap?

did it feel like a misfire? Coil pack could be failing under load, duff spark plug, etc?

It did feel like one but there was no actual misfiring (in terms of noise)

have you been able to get a diagnostic check on the ECU yet? That would be my first port of call.

Have you been in the engine bay recently? You could have dislodged a sensor. If the water temp sensor has gone, this may trick the ECU into slightly overfuelling the car which will give it some of the symptoms you've described...

Haven't been in the engine bay recently so shouldn't be that but maybe a sensor has dislodged himself. Will check that on the weekend during daylight. It's a 2007 model (end of 2006)... were there any issue with the drive by wire?
It doesn't happen if you don't fully press the accelerator down (like in the city) but wasn't there last weekend.

hmm. Not seen it myself. Worth asking here: seloc.org - lots more people who are in the know.

Found out what it is... moisture and a bit of corrosion on the coils/plugs
