Oil catch tank on an AJP
Discussion
hi guys, has anyone on here fitted a catch tank to their ajp?
I`m considering fitting one onto mine, as its going into a griff, and need the space under the air box to play with some equal length exhaust headers, so doing away with the filter body unter the airbox will give me an extra 2 1/2" of height to play with.
what concerns me is the breathing of the engine, I`m wondering if the engine will breath as well in a catch tank as it does attatched to the airbox, but I believe that there would not be a lot of air suction going on near the front of the airbox anyway.
just being over cautious as I have never used one of these before, so would appreciate some input from the mechanically minded.

Im in the process of fitting one...an alternative may of venting the crankcase.
I have sealed to hole in the bottom of the air box. the crankcase breather exits the engine and enters an in line filter (so any oil can drain back into the crankcase) then from the filter a pipe drops down to an oil catch tank that is vented to atomosphere. All the bits have been ordered from specialists and probably cost about £75...
You will have to check the air pressure pipes that run to the ECU...think you started a thread on this...yes/no...? Which ECU are you running?
Good luck

Clive - I'm going to use one of these ..

As I prefer stainless to alloy ..

Although I'm sure you will probably make your own.

hi Al, yes I`ve considered making it, but could do with saving some time so will probably buy one, but I want it fairly small, only 150mm high and no more than 75 diam have seen a few on flea bay, just need to take the plungeAs I prefer stainless to alloy ..

luckily rob helps to co run "sandyflow technologies". the work these boys come up with is simply unbelievable.
ive seen the finished product and, i know this is a bold statement, but its on par with christopher and margrets fabia (obviously nothing on the non turbo diesel astra engine though)
