Controversial one here. Anyone had a trade in offer on their Sagaris lately?

I think the Sagaris' for sale on PH are over priced. I know the market is slow, but modern TVRs are selling at the right price/in the right spec. I see some lovely Sagaris' up for sale, but they're not budging. Yet the £27.5k appears and is sold within days. Now maybe that is a bit too cheap, and perhaps the car deserved to be cheap, but 38-42k for some of these cars is too much IMO. Surely 30ish K is the right level. Of course if the owners are not desperate to sell then good luck.

T350s seem to sell once they hit 18k (early models in good nick) and 20-22k (late models in good nick with the right spec). Tamoras too - at the right price. Sagaris' just seem to be stagnant.

Yes, I may be in the market for a nice Sagaris later this year if things turn out right for me. I am not trying to talk the market down though - I'm not looking to buy for 6-12 months.

Awaits flaming from Sagaris owners...

It simply comes down to demand vs supply..

The Sagaris is a rare beast (less than 150 in existance and many of these are now in collectors hands, who won`t be selling - like me biggrin) and therefore dealers can sit on the car's and wait for the buyers..

If you want a Sagaris then you either got to jump (very) quickly on the low priced onces, but a dealer car (with warranty) will cost you more but then again you have more legal protection too..

I agree. Same for Tuscans. I posted in a similar vein back in January, and most of the Tuscans are still for sale (not all of them to be fair). The ones that have sold appear to be the ones that were priced to sell.
I decided that the prices were not realistic enough for me, so I bought a T350C instead.

Awaits flaming from Sagaris owners AND Tuscan owners......!!

I have to agree with Jim. They are rare and will becomemore so, if a dealer has one they know they are going to sell them to the right person at the right time. They know they are going to turn the stock of a Sag and as long as they are borrowing their working capital at the right rate they do not need to sell them for silly money.

Individuals selling cars are in a different boat, they may need the money there and then meaning they slash their price or sell at under its value.

I will probually never sell my Sag, it owes me no money so if I was to then I would not need a quick sale unless something came over the horizon meaning I need a quick sale.

I have just counted 18 Sagaris for sale at the moment in various classifieds! 12% of all cars made! Some seem to be well over priced.

The 27.5k Sag mentioned was up for a lot more and hung around for weeks, as soon as he dropped it to 27.5 he said he could have sold it three or four times over! Looks like this one is off to Germany like many others due to the good value of the pound against the euro. banghead

Targ,
There are some high priced Sags out there, but it's a rare car, there are no more getting built, so why should you give them away if you dont NEED to sell them?

Cars that are priced below what the norm is, are very often priced that way for a reason - but there should be a difference between nice cars and those in less than pristne condition.

But, and I never understand this, why would anyone (unless they were trying to talk down the market to actually buy a car) want to pull the higher end of the market down to align with the perculiar (the odd cheap car) - surely, as marque enthusiasts and owners, we should be looking to see the more desirable cars pulling up the prices and differentials being maintained??

Is 38-39K really too much for one owner mint car that listed up at over 55K with some toys 3 years ago?? I don't know the real answer, nor am I trying to talk the market up because I have one for sale - if mine dont sell at the price I want for it, storage it is...I happen to think mine is priced fairly and I'm sure it will sell once the "normally slow for TVR sales period that is winter" has passed.

What I'm not sure of, is if I really want to sell it - maybe other owners think the same - hence the premiums being asked. wink

John - I agree with the rarity factor and the fact it adds some value. However, if someone puts a car up for sale one would assume they are looking to actually sell it. They have 40-55k sunk into a car and they're looking to get some money back (either to buy another car, pay the mortgage or whatever). Sometimes these cars are at a dealer on sale or return so the owners don't even get to drive them so ownership is not fun any longer. Now obviously owners don't want to sell for too little, but there is a price point which attracts buyers. It isn't 40k (ish) - close to twice the price of the Tamora/T350.

I have no problem with people holding out for a higher price, it will be interesting to see how many of these cars are still for sale in several months time. There are some very optimistic prices out there - look at the difference between the two green ones at dealer oop North and darn Sarth.

I sort of disagree. The car should tempt the buyer, the price is normally set by the market. There will always be exceptions up and down on price, but the cars on PH vary on miles, condistion, private/dealer and I think perception of desirability. The prices also vary, but take away the exceptions and they sit within a 3-4K band.

RG have there cars on a sale or return and are getting a name for advertising cars at a high price.

I never really thought of it like that. Is a Sagaris really worth twice the price of a T350 or Tamora? Doubtful.

A mint 2005 T350 or Tamora at a dealers is generally 25K Tamora, 25-27K T350. 25 x 2 does not equal 38....nor does 27 x 2.

Is a Sag worth 10-12K more - your choice (its pretty much the difference when they were new - basic cars compared), but just because you don't think it is, I belive it does very little to get it sat on you drive instead of the garage forecourt should that be your goal.

Keep talking the prices down though because I'd be tempted by a mint T350 at 12 or 13 grand.

edited to add, it must be a one owner car with less than 10,000 miles, be absolutely mint, have full leather, no silly colours, have quality warranty and be serviced ready to go.

Don't get your knickers in a twist.

I was going on an average, not mint condition, the majority of T350's are around the 20-22K mark where as Sags are about the 40k mark, sorry i was a couple of grand off double then. Also the Tamora and T350 seem to nearly have halved in price from new where the Sag has not.

And if i was going to get a Sag i would have done so but i chose to keep what i have and make some changes, each to their own.

If people are going to listen to what one person has to say on an internet forum about car prices then who's the fool for listening to them?

And the majority of Sags in the spec you have just added would go for 38k would they? scratchchin

I'm not getting anthing in a twist - unlike yourself with figures..

I won't play silly games on prices, because I have not seen the cars, suffice to say there are some real sheds out there. The T350s have been around a little longer than Sags, so that will pull down the average prices. However, there are quite a few Sags around at the 35K mark. You were more than a couple of grand out with your comparison.

The Tamora and T350 seem to nearly have halved in price from new where the Sag has not? I wonder why...like you say, each to their own, but it really is market trends that set prices.

People do listen to what people say on internet forums about car prices, values and problems. Are you a fool to ignore them if you know no better?

If your infrence was that I am a fool, fine that's your opinion - I'm a contented fool.

The majority of Sags in the spec you have just added would go for 38k would they?

I dont know, I was just describing one I knew well that would sell at that price if it were offered.

100% agree.

Generally, when I'm not looking to buy anything, I tend not look at the prices of that item and make the bold statement that its not worth the money it's being advertised based upon the percieved value of a different model.
