993 tip to 111s ?
Discussion
Yeah, it's possible to go from 993 to Lotus alright. Just make sure you get a recent one and weatherproof the thing
I love 993s (had 3, last one supercharged, all manual though, no cabs) and certain members of the Elise family handle rather like 911s due to the rear weight bias. However it's a culture shock going from pretty much any Porsche to an early Elise due to build quality.
I gave up on 993s because RSs became too expensive and I'm *never* going to afford a GT2, however much I'd love one. Definitely try a bunch of different Lotus variants out though.

Went from 9972S to Exige 220S for the same reasons - had an itch to scratch with both marques, but initially hated the "back to basics" feel of the Lotus - but now I wouldn't swap back, the driving experience in the Exige is that much more direct and ultimately more fun.
Still have a hankering for a 993 Turbo, but they are silly money for 12 year old+ cars IMHO, so I am sticking with Lotus for the moment.

Another ex Porsche owner here although not without problems i still love Porsche, favourite car being the 993, best looking Porsche ever built i think. As others say 993's are bloody beautiful but mad money for even standard cars
The Lotus will feel a little raw etc at first but once you get round that god they are good. I've never driven a car that communicates with you so well, like cyber says they handle sometimes not a million miles away from a 911 just remember not to lift off mid bend

I imagine it would be worth stretching to and Elise R or 111R coming from a 911. The Elise S might have you missing the horsepower a bit too much. For me either elise is actually a lot more fun than a 911, especially the tiptronic version, less capable for long distances undoubtedly but more fun most of the time especially with the roof off.
To me going from 911 to Elise is an upgrade, not a downgrade! I had a 355 once and I would honestly not swap my Elise for one of those. I don't miss it at all. The lotus might not impress as many passers by but it's a far superior driving and handling machine. I don't think it's really any slower either in terms of acceleration either! Certainly feels quicker to 100 anyway.
