Was just joking about the TVR being more reliable than my merc....now have problems with the Cerb.

OK to start with, the rev counter fluctuates quite badly (by about 1k Revs) up and down, the pressure gauge also sticks a little.

When the doors open, the harzard lights come on. When i try to turn them off, they stop flashing but remain ON constant although the box in the car sounds like they are flashing.

There is a little black disk in the rear window with a Red LED on it. It has started flashing when the car is driving, never noticed this before (but cant 100% say it didnt happen) apart from when car has been locked and alarmed.

Does anyone have any ideas?
My sneaky suspicion (sp?) says its the Big Fuse, but i ain a TVR Guru yet. So I'll leave it to the masses.

Thanks for any help provided.
Alan

This big fuse seems to have alot to answer for! Take it out of the loom, i did. Cos if only 99 amps is in the system everything will survive?

Is your alarm making a funny 'chirrpy' noise? different than before?

Could be it's on its way out, then Carl B will be your new best friend.

Try fuse first, but a whole new alarm system isn't a bank breaker.

BCA..That was the wittiest reply i have ever read..lol.lol very funny and very appropriate..

total miss the cerb.. and wish i had never sold it....

i have three cars which try to replace it and all fail miserably..

am lurking to buy another cerb.. but will only buy back mine or another cerb that has been sorted to the same extent

Cerbs cause a lot of pain and are incredibly unreliable.. BUT... there is nothing on the road that compares...

so bca....

TVR were most definately the Darma initiative...

You shuld find it in the nearer area of the ignition coil pack/starter motor.
Please someone correct me if that is wrong:

Not when you put the airbox on!

I can change my fuse on the V8 without removing anything but the top panel.

That looks like a nightmare on the 6. frown

thumbup Glad to hear it. Its the exact reason we've never got shot of ours and never plan to. I hope you can find a sorted Cerb with all the right mods soon, I dont think you'll have much luck in getting your old one back unfortunately, Cerb999 seems rather smitten with it! smile

No, you got to actually undo 6 allen screws and disconnect the air filter breather and the pressure sensor pipe. Easy job. I wanted to document the exchange of the oil pressure sender anyway, so you´ll see. Iam just on my way into the garage to get that job done. I change an old style one against a new one, where you have to connect an additional earth lead. Might be of use for some guys here since that damn thing will start to leak sooner or later...

OK well i've changed my 100 amp fuse and i still have fluctuating revs, but not as bad....what now??

Im going to haev the wiring re-done on saturday (hopefully) with a trip switch instead of a fuse. Will let you know how it goes.

Do you or southendpier have a guide as to how this was done and materials required as I want to do this also.

I'm afraid not. It really is a pig of a job. Started by making a bracket for the top of the A/C pump to attach it to. After that all that is needed is battery cable of the right size, a couple of eyelets for crimping on the ends and and some cable ducting to put it in. Sounds simple but be prepared to lose lots of knuckle skin doing it.
