Lamborghini Repair - New Recommended Garage
Discussion
Two weeks ago I had the clutch go on my Diablo VT. Other than ship the car off to an independent miles away I opted for a place that has recently got a unit near mine in Newark, Notts. It's a fairly new business that specialises in TVR's / Caterhams or anything interesting. The owner has plenty of experience and was keen to have the job of repairing my Diablo ... so in it went.
As it was local to me I popped in most days to check on progress. We opted to re-line my existing clutch plate and re-grind the other clutch parts - £500 total for this, ie. way cheaper than the £1200 for a new one from Lamborghini. The clutch came back 3 days later looking absolutely perfect & as new.
While the car was there, I had the RWD conversion done as well, a) Because there was a suspected issue with my front diff & b) Because of the horror stories on LamboPower concerning the front wheels locking up on VT's.
Also, a few other mechanical parts were re-machined, various Lamborghini bushes, bolts etc. replaced & a few more odd jobs that needed doing on it were done.
I collected it today, all totally perfect & drives like a dream - Also the performance is now far better with all the weight gone + the drag of the front diff / propshaft / driveshafts.
So, in summary, a spot on job, very quickly done & very cheap. I've had nightmares with other places (ie. V****) & the final price for all the work done was just 70% of what V**** quote for just a clutch plate replacement ! This included the RWD conversion, a new door handle fitted, new belts, new filters, various new seals, new boot and track rod end, repaired seat mount, repaired engine cover mounts, all included in my final bill & various other work !

I'm sure they would also be keen to tackle any other Lambo / Ferrari / Maserati etc. So next time something breaks this is definitely a place to bear in mind.

The 6R4 is, well, not a true 6R4. It's a 2WD version Built by David Appelby Motorsport back in the 80's named the DAM4100. It was hillclimbed and rallied for a couple of decades then when it was pretty much a total wreck I bought it !

Had it 3 years now - I've done endless work on it - new roof, panels, over 400 hours of me just trying to get the panels prepared / fitting properly. New (well fully reconditioned) Rover V8 in the back, new wiring, new cage, new interior ... it's endlesss really. Total waste of money in most peoples eyes, but it will make one hell of a road car once i've finished ! I'm aiming for having it sprayed in a month or 2, then a few final bits & pieces and it should be road legal by the summer with luck

Thanks for letting us know this, I remember when your car was for sale a couple/few years back.
You planning to keep?

Matthew
