New pre-amp for home recording

Decided to set up my home recording gear today, and i think my trusty old Gain Brain has decided to give up the ghost (either that or my soundcard is playing up, i just cannot seem to get any signal going via the gainbrain into the soundcard and hence into Cubase)

Any suggestions on a pre-amp replacement? I don't weant to spend silly money, and would need it mainly to pre-amp mic'ed up guitars, DI bass guitar and DI vocals.
