I do like PVD watches, but doesn't it all start to come off after a bit?

My Porsche Design PAT is trashed due to scratching through the PVD frown

Yeah, perhaps I expected a bit too much (canyoning in Scotland... probably not really unexpected) but AFAIK it's not repairable either. Would be a right pain in the arse if it was a bloody expensive custom Rolex and you had to baby the thing...

CF - that's blatant product placement in the background and you know it!

ETA - is there not a bead blasting process or similar - I've heard of it but never understood what was meant...

I think there is PVD coating and Pvd coating if you know what I mean.

Ive dinked my Anonimo a few times. You can see if you look very closely but no coating have come off.

Here's my new arrival from Heuerboy...

For all of you lusting after a watch on his site, buy it. Service is just excellent, and the condition of the watch is unbelievable. Nobody believes my "new" watch is over 10 years old.
1 day in, and timekeeping hasn't varied from the quartz and digital clocks it was set by.

I must be in the minority here because I can't help thinking that PVD just looks a bit naff.
