Since the day, many moons ago, when I was well below the legal age to drive, I picked up my first copy of Fast Lane magazine with this on the cover I've adored this car.

To my eyes, that's a good Jaguar ruined. I assume it goes like a bat out of hell but all those boxy add-ons are very ugly to me.
But that's not going to put you off your dream - so how about asking every Pistonheader to buy a £1 share in it so that you can race it in PH colours?

When I was a kid I wrote to car companies asking for brochures. I'm guessing the year would be somewhere between 1985-1988. TVR sent me a lovely pack. They were producing the 'wedge' shaped cars, 280? 350?. I also wrote to Lister and (for a fee) sent me a beautiful brochure with the XJS, black and a poster too. Oh how I wish I'd kept those brochures.
That does it for me too. It has a completely different 'vibe' from the usual elegant, sweeping XJS lines but at least all the bling is backed-up under the skin - a 7 litre monster IIFC. The XJS can make a good racing car - remember when Top Gear stripped off the weight? There are some amazing YouTube vids of XJS racers.
