Competition Car Insurance will cover you for one off track events. Cover is about 100 GBP per 10k of cover. Have used them a couple of times.

Useful for next year (or renewal time) is that Performance Marque (who advertise in the club mag) include free cover for PCGB days. It gets expensive covering a £50K - £80K car at £100 per £10K cover.

I'm tempted to do Brands on the 19th myself...

And so do Royal & Sun Alliance through Peart.

I believe that AON and Carole Nash (AXA Classic policy) are the only others that allow track usage.

AFAIK, the remainder refuse point blank to cover on track as part of a normal road use policy.

If anyone hears of other track friendly Porsche insurers, please add them to this list.

AON -Royal & Sun Alliance. Classic Marques Policy. Car MUST be garaged and at least a second car.

Excess increases to 10% of the value of the car on track and the price per day is .01% of the value of the car + tax.

With an annual premium on the Cup of £400 and 5,000m limit, this is not a problem!!

However, I've been with AON for years, and before that Bain Hogg, so the time does play a factor. I've heard that new business on a similar car is usually in the £1200-1500 mark.

Liverpool & Victoria insure my 993RS. The car is kept on the road, track day cover included (I have a letter from them confirming this specifically) and in the end they were the cheapest quote regardless!

You'll find their number by searching on google.

Good luck!

Just to resurect this thread......

I have just seen a copy of a letter from Liverpool Victoria confirming in writing that they do cover track days. It was for a Boxster S incidentally. I will have to get a quote from them.

That's bizzare. I can't remember who I spoke to, but I did tape the call (as well as getting written confirmation of track day cover). I'll speak to them about LHD.

Obviously I spoke to someone who doesn't know what they are talking about. I don't see what the fuss is about LHD. I guess I'll phone them up again. I don't fancy insuring £100 for 10K worth every time I go to track the car. I guess I will have to wait a while before I do that (big sigh...).
