Hi,

in the summer 2007 I put a new clutch and a mastercylinder form clevor Trevor in my 4.2 Cerbera. Today after 5.000 miles I have problems again. I cleaned here today and checked all fluids and I saw that the clutch fluid reservoir was empty (but clean inside). I could not find any fluid inside the car and under the car, suppose it is in the bellhousing.

I put some new fluid in and bleeded the clutch and it works fine now but I guess not for long.

I suppose to put a new mastersylinder again, but which one, the orignal is not good and the Clevor Trevor one is bad after only 5.000 miles!. Is it only bad luck?

If I have to take out the gearbox should I fit a new clutch as well ? Until today the clutch works fine.

Regards

Johannes

If it is the slave were to leak, then the fuid will leak out from the bellhousing without any doubt.

I'd top it up and pump the pedal after bleeding and have another look for the fluid.

It comes out of the bellhousing pretty quick when the Slave has gone.

If it's the Slave that's gone the only reason I'd replace the clutch is if you have one of the previous level clutched CT are no longer supplying the original one. In which case I'd ask for a replacement.

First thing is call CT and find out what goes wrong with the clutch. If it allows over extension of the Slave then that could be the cause.

It should really only loose it when under pressure. If yoy fill it up and pump the pedal you should some fluid come out some where.

if you cant see it under the car, its mybe the master one away again which means it'l be leaking into the drivers footwell.
Put a bit of cardboard on the ground under the engine and see if any shows up when you pump the clutch pedal

I had exactly the same problem. My clutch fluid level dropped and I had to refill it. The master Cylinder was not leaking so it had to be the slave. The Slave is a Clever Trevor one and had only covered about 6000 mls. I contacted CT to complain saying surely it should last longer than 6k mls (the original lasted nearly 30k) CT's response? They just weren't interested and told me I would have to fit new seals. So don't buy a CT one, they don't last.

my slave seals seem to go every couple of years which is a pain.

this doesnt happen on normal road cars -- why and can we not find a mod to solve the bloody problem once and for all.

Not arguing, just adding to your experience - I had an AP one fitted with a new clutch in Feb 06, which started to leak in October 08 (some 10,000 miles later), so I had it replaced with a Raceproved Slave, so far so good (around 4,000 miles to date).
