First time back to Le Mans this year after a long break from going and just after a few tips! Booked ourselves in Maison Blanche campsite like we used to but didnt realise it was set pitches these days! Will we able to get two two man tents into one pitch ok without upsetting our neighbours? Also... my mate in his wisdom, or lack of, has decided to bring his misses along this year, any ideas where we can leave her for a few days?

Cheers!

A MB pitch is 7m x 5m so you need to know how big your tents are.

In the last couple of years the new security have got twitchy about wanting cars to be parking on your pitch and not on the road. Of course in the great way of the ACO it isn't always enforced and you can usually find parking elsewhere but don't expect to be able to park outside of your pitch as you may not get away with it.

You may be surprised, some of the pitches had a huge V shape through the middle of them last year! You might want to be prepared with lots of levelling blocks!

SHould be just 2 normal size dome 2 man'ers, so not much more than 2x2m... will be a nice squeeze by the sounds of it, and no room for the gazebo! frown

I'll bear that in mind.

Have they actually changed the ground then? I've been there in campers about four times now and never noticed major un-level ground? I went last in '07 and they had just marked out the pitches on the grassy bits...

They made big changes last year, they have laid a new circuit (Maison Blanch Circuit strangely enough!), so there is more tarmac. Some of the middle pitches are now very V shaped - I imagine it's for drainage for when they use the circuit but it is problematic for pitching I imagine.

No real issue for you in a camper but the ground was very very hard in places - lots of hardcore and very little soil, plus last year very little grass but I imagine there will be more grass this year.
