noble/ corvette C6

May be having a change from my C6 vette soon and was thinking about the Noble. Would appreciate any info. good or bad on the various models and years especially reliability.

How much you looking to spend?

Need to know a lot about them first. My C6 06 is utterly reliable so I need the reliability if I 'm changing cars. I will have around £35k to spend.

Should get a well sorted 3R or maybe a M400 if you look around, Reliability? I have a GTO3 and had a couple of problems which I have sorted out, dont think they will ever beat say a 911 for reliability, I tried a 911 turbo out when I bought my GTO, it was good and very capable but for putting that big stupid grin across your face....not a chance,
Also, cant believe the attention it gets, today going to Milton Keynes, couple of bikers stood on the side of the road giving me the big thumbs up, brilliant. If your a big kid...go for a noble, brilliant

Looking over some of the postings by noble owners, owning one could be a disaster, especially if you get a bad one? Think I will stick with my C6 for a while longer, would drive me crazy if the noble I bought spent more time being repaired than on the road. All the best to the noble owners, beautiful looking car, shame about reliability.

Just think of the saving on fuel. 6.0l vs 3.0l! Though I've spent a few quid on mine over 2 years, they've never been problems that have left me at the side of the road like TVRs. The Noble is like a race car on the road, the repairs go with the territory. Insanely, I get pleasure from getting bits and pieces done to it. It kinda brings you closer to the car.

Just remember that on forums such as this you tend to get problems being posted rather than my car's working fine today. Having said that the Noble is a low volume sports car and no way will it be as reliable as anything that has had gazillions of development $£ spent on it.

Had mine for 4 years and 6 months...all I've done is service it, changed a few ball joints and changed the front pads and tyres. Not many Porches can say that...

How many miles have you done out of interest?

My M400 has done 21500 miles and is just in for the full 4 year service. It'll probably be a bigger bill than the usual service(normally about £600-£700)and for the first time there'll be extras needed doing, rear pads,cracked rear manifold( they all do that)and weld exhaust bracket(they all do that as well!).As previously said it's never gonna be as reliable as a Corvette, but as a driving experience it's a very fair trade off.I use mine nearly every day, don't track it and generally £1500 a year should cover you for a service and the odd hiccup, with maybe a bigger bill every so often. Get a good one and they are a truly great car.Having recently cancelled my GTR deposit,(3 and a half grand for set of disc and pads anyone?)to me it's still more fun per pound than virtually anything out there.

£3.5k for a set of discs and pads for A gtr? Must be gold plated !!. I had an old GTR R33 and that was pushing 495bhp. fabulous car, disc and pads on that were £120. That was 0-60 in 4 secs. With that in mind, the new GTR is a stunner with performance to match and maybe and if the prices come down in a couple of years will go for one of them.

some of the porsches are converted to use conventional disks and pads rather than carbon, due to the cost of a replacement set

GTR discs aren't carbon. In fact the front pads cost more than the discs!

Just under 20k...

I'd like to add that 18 months of that was in southern Spain, 2 summers with average 28-34 degs C. Never missed a beat, even on track days at Guadix and Jerez.

I've had Corvettes for years. In fact, I had 2 when I bought my Noble. After I bought the Noble, I sold both Corvettes and my AC Cobra replica. Not because I had to, but because none of them measured up and I knew I wouldn't feel like driving them anymore. Driving a C6 is like wallowing around in a bathtub compared to driving a Noble, IMHO.

Kinda curious but why are you looking to change the Vette?

If it were me I'd look to doing a few mods to the Vette. Take a look over at Texas Speed & Performance, Exoctic Peroformance Plus or Thunder Racing.

A Procharger kit with some decent heads and blower cam with a few bolt ons on super unleaded you should be able to top 600-700bhp and still have a reliable motor. Up the suspension and brakes to cope and then upset pretty much any supercar you're ever likely to encounter
