I've decided to move to a content management system (Wordpress) for my website. It's take me a little while to find my way around and I'm learning a thing or too about CSS and PHP but enjoying the ride. It now integrates with Facebook, MySpace, FlickR so should make it much easier to keep up to date.

I've kept a slide show on an entry page but this may be superfluous, I'd like to hear thoughts on that and anything else...

Facebook is the way to go, are you integrating with facebook etc? If so how?

What gallery s/w are you using? I use nextgen which seems pretty good.

I spent the last half hour or so flicking through and trying not to sit there looking at your photos again smile

Couple of things I spotted, I dont know if you can do anything about them but the gallery appears massive (when it said 175 items I thought I'd come back later) and the portfolio link - is that right?

Very nice. Would have been much easier to pick a generic crappy Wordpress theme so fair play to you for doing it properly smile

Thanks. The gallery is a wordpress plugin that calls my photos from Flickr. Facebook integration is again a plugin which allows me or anyone else to send blog posts off to Facebook, Myspace, etc.

Thanks Andy. I've reduced the gallery to 50 from 100 items. It loads the tab you are looking at but also then in preperation it loads the thunbnails for the sets and most interesting streams.

Portfolio link takes you back to the slideshow, I think I need to rename that.

Cheers. I started with one of the themes and set about modifying it. I've found a bug with the "gallery button" that I've having trouble with though, it appears in different places on different browsers.

Ah, I see. I was looking for something which lets me update facebook via wordpress, so I only have to stick a post on once. I'm trying wordbook and although I can get the posts into FB I cannot get them where I want them!

Grrr

Nick your sense of style seems to come through very well in the design of your website which strongly supports your photographs. Very nicely done.

Blogging is great for two reasons, one is that it's another outlet that you can be quite creative with if you choose, the other (and more important one for me) is that it encourages you to get out and get busy with the camera so you'll have more to add to your blog!

Might you want to allow comments from users that aren't logged in? Use the askimet spam filter to stop all the rubbish getting left in there.

The index page for me doesn't display 100% correctly. I'm running Firefox at 1680x1050. See the far right of the (thumbed) image below, the wood background isn't large enough and has to start it's self again.
