Roush exhaust and track days
Discussion
I get the feeling that it depends on how old the exhaust system is. I did a fair bit of noise testing with Yellowshed a couple of years ago, and with a new system there was no problem either static or drive-by at tracks around the country. However, 2 yrs on I have been black-flagged at Donny (98db drive-by)on several occasions and have now got some quiet tail-pipes to see me through. These can be ordered through PiperCams who made the original Roush exhaust.I suspect that if the original exhaust was just re-packed it would be fine again, but alas no way of getting in other than cutting the box up.
I had a Roush exhaust fitted to mine last year with cats. I went on a couple of track days at Donington last year and got black flagged both times, it seems it was whenever i took the revs over 5k. One time was on the sighting lap.
The only other thing worth noting is that I have my air filters fitted in the forward position on the bulkhead, this seems to increase the induction noise and may contribute to the overall noise level.
I have since ordered a set of quiet pipes and will be trying them out on my next track day.
