Replacement engines on 2006 cars ??

I saw a car advertised a while back stating it had had a replacement engine fitted due to an internal vibration. Having talked to a chap yesterday he has also had a replacemnt engine fitted due to oval shaped bores. He said that there was a batch of enignes made for 2006 6.0 litre cars that suffered from this.

Has anybody heard of this ?

Well you can't bore them oval so I guess there's a suggestion of a wear issue? I've not heard of this.

Sorry, this particular car is a late 2005, seem to remember the other car be the first of the new model as well.

I had my engine replaced under waranty and it had only done 7.5k miles.

Apparently replaced due to piston slap.

Did you notice it yourself ?? If so what did you notice ?? A noise or a vibration or both ??

it started with a rattle which I thought came from the top end but when I took it to the garage they diagnosed it as the piston slap. It got steadily worse before it was replaced.

I wonder what those look like apart from being oval and if the rings rotate somehow. Have you an engine link?

The NR750 looks much like a V8 crank and rods, but with each adjacent pair of rods sharing an oval piston, each with 4 inlet and 4 exhaust valves. The rings don't rotate.

Sadly that is the 'mickey mouse' road version!! This is the real NR750, Le Mans 1987, and yes I was there and boy was it fast. www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/model/Honda/honda_nr750%2087.htm
