binding brakes
Discussion
On my way back from box hill today I noticed that my rear brake was binding, mainly from when I rolled the trottle off it would slow a lot more than normal, plus when I was pushing it round a petrol station I could hear them grinding away.
whats the trick of unbinding them? or loosening them a little bit.
I ride a motorbike btw, unsure if the brakes are different that a car, but I wouldnt think they are much different (well ok yes the hydro ones are) but the calipers and such like should be the same

You need to understand what's sticking and fix it. It could be the pads binding in the runners, in which case you just need to clean the calliper with brake cleaner etc to get rid of the accumulated brake dust and muck. Or with a floating calliper it could be the slider jamming, which needs the sliders cleaning and regreasing or replacing. Or it could be the pistons binding, in which case you need to strip and refurbish or replace the calliper. Or, it could be the pushrod adjusted too tight at the master cylinder, or the master cylinder itself faulty and not opening to the reservoir properly, and holding hydraulic pressure. It's even been known for a hydraulic hose to delaminate internally and form a one-way valve that holds pressure on.
