...now the 'fun' begins!

So if you have any suggestions of firstly venues that'd be great as Google throws up millions of ideas in and around the East(ish) Berkshire area!

I'm sure there are lots of other things to worry about, but I think that will fall into place once the venue is secured.

Congrats - how many people do you need to fit into the venue?

Depends what you're after but I can think of a nice place on the banks of the Thames.

We don't know at the moment! We're looking to keep the daytime thing small and the evening large. So I'm guessing around 40 for the day, and whatever we can get for the evening really. Day and evening can be in different places.

Whereabouts? A river location would be nice.

Classic! I was going to suggest a similar venue, Temple Island in Henley.

Looks OK, but it does have a bit of a club house feel to it, and I don't think it's quite what we're after

This looks good, I'll give 'em a bell and see what they have to say for themselves.

We looked at the New Mill but it was a little small for what we wanted, nice location and the food and drink looked pretty good.

Agree, another nice venue, even better in the flesh than in the pictures.

Fair enough. I had a feeling that might be the case but I thought I'd throw it into the mix. Mind you, it's a grade 2 listed building with seating for up to 80 and has its' own kitchens and bar.

Just spoke to them, they sound good as they will tailor what we want rather then forcing us to a fixed fee minimum number of people. It would allow us to put our own stamp on it which is something we're keen on.

The trouble is, the pair of us want to get married here: http://www.postranchinn.com/ and anything I find over here just isn't in the same league. So I'm trying to find something over here that wins our hearts and comes in to budget!

The plan would be to have a sending off party somewhere, fly out the 15 must haves for a few days and then start the honeymoon from there.

Ah.. I see. In which case I respectfully withdraw my suggestion of the sailing club.

Haha smile No problem, it's nice to have a sensible suggestion every now and again.

When you see that place, you'll understand why I'm tempted to take the offer I have hoovering around on the Boxster.

Anyway, back to the thread. Berkshire is a nice place...
