Did you change anything else when you did the shells?
In particular any change to the oil pump or its pickup. If it is too close to the sump pan it could cause a restriction.

Luke,

I have no idea what engine you are talking about but......

You say it loses oil pressure over 3k rpm so I assume it's OK at lower rpm?

If so I'd hazard a guess at oil starvation somewhere in the system or a duff oil pump.

Good luck and don't rev it to much until you get it sorted winksmile

need to check no blockages anywhere like oil filter/ oil cooler/ oil pump pickup strainer, also worth making sure the new shells are fitted correctly , if all seem ok possible faulty pump, worth removing oil pressure switch and fitting in a oil pressure gauge to check what pressure you've got through the rev range, cause if it's just the oil light coming on might be a faulty pressure switch but seeing that its had new shells it's seems as thou it's suffered with starvation/blockage.

Sound like it could be a sticking oil pressure relief valve, had a similar problem myself a few years ago!
