Digital Recorder - Roland VS Akai DP etc

I think I need a mixer recorder and am considering something like a secondhand Roland VS1680. Has anyone got experience on these desks or can recommend something better?

As per a previous thread, it needs enough inputs to keep everything plugged in, ability to record a whole band (using roland TD8&3kits)so stereo pairs for those and it must be well cool looking.

This is what i need to hook up....
TD8(Stereo) - TD3(Stereo)- Guitar1 - Guitar2 - Bass - NovationXStation(atmosphere&The Grand) - PC2(Reason&Ableton&EZDrummer) - TorqXponent Decks(stereo) - Shure SM mic.

Oh well thats torn it.
I've just won (on ebay) a Roland VS1880 with a mastering CD as an extra, hope it does the biz.

OK it arrived. (VS1880 + CD Master + 2xVF8 effect boards)

Damn it, The manuals weigh more than the recorder.

Flying Concorde looks easier, I have a permanent ring on my arse from "bog research" like you wouldn't believe. This weekend will see the 1st recording I hope!
